Forum Tweaks and additions

Post by bubbles19 on Sat 7 Nov 2009 - 21:22

Hey Admin

Keep noticing all the little changes (mostly visual) that you are making around here.

new icons/buttons along the top, additions to the poster's info on the right side of a post etc - all makes the forum look smarter and much more professional goodnews Trophy

Hello Smile
Thanks. (I think).
There isn't too much you can do with this format, other than cosmetic tweaking.
It is after all a "forum kit".
Though I guess they all are. Thumbs up
Can't do much more now.

Hi all ,

Since the last set of upgrades to the place a few things have changed for me.

The new posts that are highlighted in red when new do not extinguish when read. ? They stay active and it gets confusing.
Also it seems i cant see any if these thanks buttons or anything.

Just thought you guys should know.

Works as it should for me McT. The only time I thought that it didn't was when I had missed a post

It seems to be amended now. The threads showing they have been read helps.

Still cant locate the thanks buttons , can someone point them out to me.

Hi Smile
I have a problem with the thanks button.
In some threads, but not others.
I can't pin down why that is either.
Added to which it is limited to one post per thread.
I'd rather pursue the Reputation concept.

Having said I no idea isn't quite true.
As there does seem to be a connection between having both "Quote" & "Multi-Quote".
Along with longer post titles.
Hence it is likely the "Thanks" button is "squeezed" out of the picture.

I can see the thanks button in this thread but it is grayed out.

Usually when thanks has been given in a thread the thanks button is not visible at all and the thanked post is a darker blue than the rest of the posts.

Hello Smile
As I've not seen many (if any folk) use "Multi-Quote".
I have disabled it (temporary).
To see if that changes anything. Smile

Hello Smile
I believe I have it sussed.
By enabling the "Rep" to show in profile only.
It allows the the thanks button to appear.
However it is browser related to.
So IE users get the best deal. (AFAIK).
Cause Opera still isn't really showing the thanks at all. Sad

Hello Smile
Spoke to soon.
The appearance (or not) of the "Thanks" button is still spoadic at best.
So I have disabled it.
Enabled everything else.
With the "Thanks" only one person, per post/thread got to "thank you".
With the points, all members can show their appreciation (or not).
Of every single post in any thread.
Which seems to be a more fair approach to you all.

You could have something there Admin as your sig is not what it should be viewing through FF at the moment. Might just need to clear & restart FF - can see your sig fine through IE

Re: Forum Tweaks and additions

Post by Admin on Wed 16 Dec 2009 - 14:21

Hello Smile
Well a changes have taken place over the last 7 days.
Including "Report post" & "Flags".
Also bubbles19 has created a info re UK forum....
So get promoting your area!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The "Thanks" button just isn't going to work in the way I want it to.
You could only thank one member per thread.
If someone beat you to it.
It was all over.
The Rep bit allows you to give & take points for each & every post.
This is not affected by other members choices either.
So seems a much fairer way to go.

BTW The affiliates button for UDVDR takes to their site.
The Slysoft one (plus those in bubbles19 & my sig) are UDVDR affiliated.
So Ultimate should get any benefits.
