Security Essentials 1.0.1959 19/02/2010
Microsoft Security Essentials provides real-time protection for your home PC that guards against viruses, spyware, and other malicious software.
Microsoft Security Essentials is a free download from Microsoft that is simple to install, easy to use, and always kept up to date so you can be assured your PC is protected by the latest technology. It’s easy to tell if your PC is secure — when you’re green, you’re good. It’s that simple.
Microsoft Security Essentials runs quietly and efficiently in the background so that you are free to use your Windows-based PC the way you want—without interruptions or long computer wait times.

Unfortunately it does not do as it says on the tin.
It is not updated regularly at all, I used it for quite a while and was happy with it until I noticed that it did not update regularly.
If it did I would go back to using it.

Hello
This is the latest version with many changes apparently.
Though to be honest I have no idea what.
As I use Kaspersky Internet Security myself.

There is a new update for this software, BUT I am unsure of the information that Microsoft gets from my computer.
Here is a link to the site info, tell us what you think. http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/privacy.aspx?mkt=en-us
