Re: What's your favourite movie?
I got to forums for many different reasons. I run a site for gaming (I game pretty hardcore) and for a long time gaming sites were all I visited. Then I started branching out in tech forums for selfish interests in learning more about my other interests. Along the way, I got to know some people and have just never left. The keep letting me post, so I guess they put up with me.

Well I am not much of a techie to be honest but i am learning!!!.. i know more than the average bear though and am learning more and more. My exhusband took my main rigg though so now all i have is my custom laptop that i guard with my life as he has taken to spying on me.. he is very paranoid now..go figure when he was the one skanking around on the internet with his webcam while i was enduring the worst times of my life.. and still am with my mom.. but I found a long lost friend.. reconnected and it just happened he owned the PureOC website.. he invited me on and so that is how i came to be in the techie online forums.. it saved me really.. being able to make new friends. Being able to learn new things. If you want to see my old rigg..she was a beauty, water cooled asus p6 motherboard.. sigh.. blue cold cathode lights and everything, custom case with blue flames.. go to pureoverclock.com and look my photo album up.. i go by the same user name on all the forums so far..

Well think of it this way...when you rebuild your new rig, it will be better and faster. Nature of the game...rigs get outdated before the initial boot. I hope that you get things headed in the right direction soon. Sounds like you are well on your way...

Best move I made. Imported the discs into itunes. We had a few 'books' and my sister had the rest. She was really into it. My wife used to borrow audiobooks from our local library and listen on her CD player. I converted most to mp3 which meant from 12to 18 discs, I could squeeze them onto 1 or 2. but having them sitting in the ipod is heaps better.... for us anyway. I'll be looking for a few others now like Lord of the Rings. Read the books, but didn't take it all in.
Currently listening to HP & Pris of Azk.

I like having things on the iPod because then if you have one of those radio transmitter cords for the car then you can listen to it in the car too. I'm really bad for wanting to listen more to my audio books like that.. truly pathetic... especially when the only audiobooks i have on my Ipod are the Twilight Saga.. yep losers-r-us! And when i am done here.. guess which movie i am going to play on my laptop when i got to bed??? Yep you got it... New Moon! hahaha

Re: What's your favourite movie?
I enjoyed the HP books, but there are other books that I enjoyed. My wife likes Dean Koontz... I find him to be flawed though (some of the stories were okay).
I really enjoyed was "The Thirteenth Tale" by Diane Setterfield. Outstanding read and I would think they could make a darn good film out of that.
Vampiress - Why don't you start a book club thread? Think it might be a hit. We are going off topic with this movie thread thing.
I listen to audio books in the car, but also pick-up the old fashioned book for evenings at home. One think I will say, those Harry Potter books, Jim Dale narrated them all he was outstanding. I read those the old fashioned way and listened to them. I don't always go back to audio versions of books, but those I do.

Ahhhhhh man after my own heart!!! Lovin' the Star Trek stuff... as if i couldn't figure that one out!!!!!!
Matrix is totally awsome too! Basically if it is Sci-fi i like/love it! If it is Vampire themed.. even better!! hahaha I like Star Wars too, but not as much as Star Trek!! I love the Underworld movies of course, and anything like that though i am not much for gore and horror believe it or not.. not unless the unsuspecting person i am with wants me on their lap or hiding my face on their shoulder... and i like Vampire flicks!! haha.. VanHelsing was a cool movie. I like how they did Dracula for it with his vampy companions....but then Hugh Jackman is nice to look at! haha I think the best Dracula was the one played by Gary Oldman. But then he also did a good job in the Harry Potter Movies as Sirius Black and as the baddy in The Fifth Element.

Re: What's your favourite movie?
Startreksuite....so which Star trek flick don't you like?
perhaps the third one... the search for a plot? Or, 6th and last of the TOS crew with the search for religious redemption? I thought both of those ones sucked.
My favorites are (TNG) First Contact, Insurrection, Nemesis; (TOS) The Wrath of Kahn, The Voyage Home (hahaha save the wales! haha), and The Undiscovered Country
I really like the newest incarnation though... Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto did a geat job with their interpretations of Kirk and Spock.. especially Spock!! Wow, was that a surprise after seeing him as Silar in Heroes! Only thing, i sort of wish they had not included Leonard Nimoy... it was sort of overkill in my humble opinion, and i think they did it just to tie in the older generations of the faithful to this newest imagining.
Which of the shows did you like best? I have to say that i loved Voyager best, but I loved Enterprise too... too bad they cancelled it just as it was getting good.. they took too long to develop the characters in teh beginning which i think was how the show lost its steam...but then if it is sci-fi and i like it..it gets cancelled or ends too soon. Sheeesh.. I love how they ended the Voyager series.. in my opinion one of the best Show finales ever!! I like how they tied up all the story lines in the end and left no one hanging or falling flat! The only Show i never could get fully into was Deep Space Nine.. i felt it was a little bit boring honestly.
I loved the re-imagined Battle Star Galactica.. however, I hated how they ended the series.. i thought it was soft and fell flat on its face. It made sense what they did, but i think it could have been done a bit better. I think they ruined the spirit of the show early on when they started with all the convoluted political intrigue in an attempt to make it more realistically plausible, and then the thing where people would die then be resurrected as in the case of Starbuck.. i mean really!!! But hey whatever, I still loved it and rarely missed an episode! Do you like Doctor Who too?? That's the latest love affair going on!! hahaha

Re: What's your favourite movie?
On the Sci Fi theme, I loved the original Stargate movie and all the stargate series SG1, Stargate Atlantis, great shows. Also Stargate The Ark of Truth and Stargate Continuum.
Think my all time favourite is the Babylon5 movies, wasn't too keen on The River of Souls, the 4th movie although I do have the boxed set of 5 Movies, loved the tv series.

Another great movie was Sleepers, not a Sci Fi but a great movie.

Original Stargate movie was good. My wife wasn't sure about the series either, but got her hooked and she's even more a fan of SG1 than I was! The least favorite/forgettable movie was Undiscovered Country, and Search for Spock wasn't bad. Babylon 5 was the best Television Series I have watched in the sense that the beginning and end worked together perfectly. I have yet to see another to do this. I couldn't get into the new Battlestar, way too Dark! Old one was good. \
Must add more favorites: Pi and The Fountain both scifi and thought provoking movies.

Well the alternate timeline is what made the new crew plausible and allowed for the two Spocks to meet each other.. and it wouldn't be classic Star Trek without alternate time lines.. who knows how many alternate realities there are!!!
I liked Serenity, but unless a person watched Firefly they really wouldn't get a lot out of Serenity.

Re: What's your favourite movie?
I watched enough out of Firefly to get the plot and story for serenity, which just seemed well put together. I guess I and most Star Trek fans didn't want to see the storyline messed with at all, so Uhura with Spock, Jim losing his Dad early on just would be hard to swallow.
Alternate realities makes for lots of remakes, which DS9 did to death

Yeah.. that's why i hated DS9... I didn't say i wasn't a purist...i just appreciated how they were able to make the plot work and try to get fans to accept the new actors. The new story line did take some time to grow on me though.. i just hated how they included the old Spock to try adn tie things together. I felt it was unnecessary to have him as involved in the story as he was.
