Hi Smile
As it is relatively new.
I forgot about MS Security Essentials Thumbs up big , which is getting a good response from most users.

Currently used Kaspersky for the past few years with excellent effect. To be honest its the lightest most secure all in one suite one can buy. I usually go half with my dad and we have it installed on 2 computers and usually give one away to a friend. So costs about £15 a year for the retail. Cant really beat that if i am honest.

Though when using free apps , I found Avira and Comodo very good together.

Used AVG free for a number of years without any problems and it is still on a couple of the kids computers.

Have been using Mcafee security suite on my own computer for the last year as it was a freebee with BT broadband - but it does seem to pick up the odd downloaded install file as a problem from time to time. ie one file it complained about last week has been there for months (& certainly no virus activity on this machine Very Happy ).

Might soon be time to uninstall Mcafee & reinstall some of the better free Av & firewalls.

I suppose it was inevitable that Zeb's would be let loose to start some polls lol!

Me, I use Avast, and so far am happy with it, along with Comodo Firewall.

Have tried Comodo Firewall a couple of times in the past but found it flagged up a lot more notifications than others (especially when installing a piece of software) - which personally I didn't like.

Yes it does flag up a lot bubbles, but if you know that you can trust what is being flagged up then you can list it as a Trusted application, then not so annoying.

Hi Smile
Too much wine .... I think. Wink
It is a good combo.
Though if going free.
Avira is a better antivirus program.
Comodo is probably as good as it gets.
You could add Spybot as well.

I have now decided to use Windows Firewall and stop using Comodo just to see what happens.

Well I voted for Kaspersky, not because it may be good or it may be less of a resource hog but because its free from my bank.
I must have a Scottish, Yorkshire gene somewhere in my DNA.

Running Microsoft Security Essentials in my Windows XP Pro installation through VirtualBox in Ubuntu. Works good for a free app in virtual space!

I've got a friend that is strongly recommending Sunbelt Software VIPRE... anyone here give it a go? He says it is lighter on resources than Eset NOD32.

I use Kaspersky too, but it has it's share of problems right now and it does not appear they are being addressed. Of course, I am unwilling to beta test a security suite on my everyday use PC. While I don't really need it, the Thunderbird 3.x issue with their plug-in is still a problem (less of one now that Thunderbird released an update that does not allow the Kaspersky plug-in to launch)... and there are a few other nagging issues as well that I feel Kaspersky should be focusing on.
