What’s coming up in the world of IT: Office 2010 Nearing Release
Microsoft have this week announced the pricing for the forthcoming release of Office 2010, with Office 2010 Home and Business Edition costing £239.99 for a boxed retail version. As with many previous software releases, it also looks like Microsoft will be running an Office 2010 upgrade programme, meaning that anyone who buys the current version of Office (Office 2007) in the months leading up to the release of the new version will be eligible for a free upgrade to Office 2010 when it is released.
Microsoft are also hoping to capitalize on the popularity of Windows 7 by offering Office 2010 cheaper to consumers who buy a new PC with Office pre-installed. The pre-installed version of Office 2010 will cost a mere £189.99. Office 2010 will build on Office 2007, and will feature a refined version of the Office 2007 ribbon interface, improved collaboration tools and new text and image editing facilities. If you’re interested in upgrading it should hit the shops in early June.
