Motherboards that are value for money/performance:
Hello
I like Gigabyte boards.
So for Intel CPUs' I'd suggest looking at th GA-EP43-S3L from Gigabyte.
Although its been around a while now.
Still is a top performer, when you consider the cost.
For AMD
Still Gigabyte, MA790XT-UDP4.
This board should last you through a cone or two upgrades at least.

Been an Asus guy and used some BioStar boards as well. Heard good things about Gigabyte boards too. Just always had great service from Asus so have not felt the need to switch.

Mine is a Gigabyte P35C-DS3R. Had it for quite a while and no problems as yet.

I have the Gigabyte X48 DS5 Mobo and it works just fine in ACHI mode but my drives are on a controller card and it shows my BenQs as SCSI and others that are SATA as IDE, but they work just fine so I dont really care what it says, LOL.

I have always used Asus, but some of the gigabyte boards are really nice. I'm with SithTracy though, until Asus gives me a reason, I'm not switching.
Re: Motherboards that are value for money/performance:
My last board was an ASUS and my current board is an ASUS P6X58D Premium.
I just picked up 2 ASRock 775 boards about a month ago for a Q6600 and a Q9550 which I put to use for my 2 eldest daughters. I added Arctic Freezer 7 Pro's to both and they rock for the kids. One runs Win Vista Home Prem and the Q9550 runs Win 7 Home Prem.
The boards ASRock G965M-S were only fifty bucks, had on board video and sound so they covered all bases for the girls.

Been interested in ASRock for a small cheap pc... Thanks for the tip Joel... I do have a Biostar system that my wife and kids have and it is rock solid as well, but I think I read somewhere that ASRock is an ASUS off brand.

ASRock is a subsidiary of ASUS.

Re: Motherboards that are value for money/performance:
These 2 boards have only been running for a month but so far have been excellent and very affordable for almost anyone. And now I find out they are part of the ASUS home. Cool!

Hello
I have had both Asus & AsRock.
They are very good.
If you do not really need all options then AsRock makes sense.
