Pioneer & MCSE speed patching.

The following will result in any warranty being made void.
N.N.B. When flashing make sure drive tray is empty.
If unsure or new to flashing consider, flashing drives in safemode.

The following example is an IDE drive.
The process is identical for SATA drives like the 215(D).

Having downloaded the official firmware.

You may have already done this.
In which case move on to the next stage.

Run f/w, selecting where you want the folder destination to be.

Click on Run button.

Click on Install button.

If you have already updated you will see this window.

If you have not yet updated. The loading of the update can be followed in the DOS window.

Patching with MSCE.

First download the latest version of MCSE (MediaCodeSpeedEdit).
MCSE Information & Download:

Having downloaded the file.
Unzip to its own folder.
Then, either run from there.
Or create a Desktop shortcut.
Running from folder.
Double click the file exe.

Load the file you want to patch, using Load button.

Then browse to file location.

Check the relevant boxes in the Drive settings.
N.B. I have selected just 'enable bitsetting'.
You can select any one setting or all three.
Depending on your requirements.

You should then get this window.
Click the Yes button to continue.

The patched file will show as speedpatched.
You can save as such.
It will work.

I prefer to rename to original file name. (Renaming folder in which the patched f/w is stored.)*

If you do this you should see this window.

*The reason I do this, is because then. I can identify all variations of that said patched f/w.
i.e. Whether yo select one, two or all three boxes. The f/w will still be named speedpatched.
You can of course change this.
I just prefer to have separate folders. Naming them & leaving the files with the original.

Patching the Flasher.

Firstly why?
The original flasher is set so that if you've already flashed latest f/w. You can't flash that same drive again.
Unless it is a further update.
This also makes it hard to go back to previous f/w if you felt you got better results with earlier f/w. (Rare with Pioneer).

Select flasher, instead of f/w.

Check box 'allow same to same flashing'

The rest is as before. (With the f/w patching).

Success with flashing patched f/w.

See here the flashing process.
Note that the f/w is already the latest.
Yet allows the flashing process to commence.
Updating f/w should look similar.

[Tip : To ensure I have no disc loaded in the drive I am about to flash. I open the drive tray.]
Go to the folder containing patched f/w.
Double click the flasher exe.

Click the Yes button to run program.

Click the OK button to close program.
