Linux compatability.

Post by zebadee on Mon 5 Apr 2010 - 5:02

Hi Smile
No end of problems for me with 64 bit Linux anything.
It doesn't like my hardware comtrollers, software controllers.
Even the USB hub has gone mad as an update will not install.
During install renamed all drives & their order.
Then formatted all HDD's & SSD's.
I have given trying to install to Raid. So have openSUSE on non-raid.
Even on SSD, it is slow compared to Windows 7.
Add to that.
As soon as it tries to install these "crucial" updates.
I lose all USB control.
So no keyboard etc.

You're getting a kernel update probably and the drivers you are using were not complied for the new kernel. This is one of the most frustrating aspects to Linux and the main reason it will probably never be considered a mainstream OS. This is where the Mac fills that void... If there was a policing entity over Linux and one distro dominated, it might be more accepted for the average home user.

Hi Smile
Yesterday I had 18 critical updates.
Installing caused bedlam with USB controller.
Today 19 critical updates.
Installed & no problems.
Guess like golf.
You need that 19th one. rotflmao
