Samsung F3 hard drives , get one now.
I would just like to recommend these really. So many drives now on the market to choose from. WD being rewound for its high quality. But i say take a look at the new Samsung F3. I myself just received the new 1TB 32MB Catch drive. Its by far the fastest standard drive i have used. Ultra silent and good working temperatures. I paid £56 to my door from Scan. Cant say this was not a deal !! !! I am very happy with this drive.
If you need some storage and cheap too , look no further.

Hi
Interesting Craig.
But I have some F1 series.
Currently using them externally only.
See my results.

Things to note:
Although the actual rates are lower, in terms of transfer.
The graph is smoother for the most part.
Important?
Probably only really makes a difference with something like video streaming.
Even then it would be minimal.
Lower CPU load.
Often external drives are higher, though not always (obviously).
But I have a slightly faster access time too.
Though I can't prove it.
(All my internal drives are WD "Black" series, much better for varied tasks & speed. Although dearer. Have longer warranty to compensate.)
My Samsungs are even quicker - graphs smoother blah blah blah.
When used internally.
(WD's still better again.
)
That said for storage, especially video.
The Samsung is an excellent drive.

Thanks for the info Zebadee. That is just the sort of comparison and info i was after.
I agree the smoothness and sustained transfer rate is a very important factor. Something that i have always seemed to struggle to achieve even with other branded drives.
With regards to that I think the current X58 chipset does need some tweaking as well. It would be interesting to see other users with the F3 and the F1 to also post there results. I think some of the users who i originally saw post the F3 series managed a huge 120mbs+ on the benchmark. With smoother transfer lines.
I do admit the WD Black series are probably the best drives , however i am disappointed by the overall performance. It should be faster , but still very acceptable. I originally had the WD green as my OS drive. It is a real slow and poor speeded drive. Great for additional low power storage but still did not impress me. However the Samsung eco green 1.5TB drive did.
The main thing I am happy with is the extra zip this has given the OS. I do not use any page file so this is run in the ram memory. The HD does a fine job in running the apps and doing it in a fast Fashion. I can honestly say for the price anyone who does buy the Samsung F3 series will not be disappointed.

Hi
Novatech have the Sammie for £62.09. [p&p free].

Scan currently charges £58.63. But I couldn't get p&p free. P&P £6.99. Total £66.67.
