Another question

Post by Alby on Mon 12 Apr 2010 - 11:44

Sorry to be pain guys, but I spotted something at the local Hi Fi shop.

It's a Pioneer DVD player with a USB port. $116 AU
It'll also read Divx discs and movies through that USB. Now... a lot of the movies sitting on my computer are xvid or finish with " .avi ".
Will that player play those movies be it on disc or memory stick?
Or as previously discussed look at a Media player.

Al

It will depend on the spec of the player. Do you have the model number of the DVD Player?

Hi Smile
Better still have a link.
As Pioneer have a somewhat bizarre way of numbering models.

I've got an LG BD390 and I can play Matroska files from USB flash or hard drive and love it!!! LG discontinued that model, but if you can. look at their follow-up to it. Great BD and streaming player too!

Hi Smile
This Pioneer should (going by the manual) do what you want it to.
The only aspect that might give problems can be found bottom half of page 19.

FAT32 has a 4GB file size limit. As long as your AVI or DivX files are not larger than that you will be fine. I will say this, the LG BD player I have with USB reads my NTFS formatted hard drive with no problems... My files can exceed 4GB.
